MCM – Sustainability Reporting Journey
We developed MCM’s 2022, 2023 and 2024 sustainability impact reports in alignment with regional and global best practice standards and regulatory requirements.
The reporting showcases the impressive progress made by MCM over the last few years on sustainability including the development of validated Science Based Targets on climate and the achievement of industry accreditations including Positive Luxury’s Butterfly Mark and the numerous initiatives that have moved them forward on materials, supply chain and social responsibility. The report also enhances their supply chain transparency and supports their brand narrative.
Client: MCM
Project: Sustainability Journey Report 2022, 2023 and 2024
Year: 2023-2025
Who was the client?
Founded in Germany in 1976 as an alternative to traditional luxury, MCM was the “enfant terrible” of the Munich scene, renowned for its cognac-coloured leather goods, backpacks, and apparel. Today, MCM continues to harness its heritage of sophisticated rebellion, embracing sustainability and inclusivity along the way.
What did we do?
Watts Sustainability supported the delivery of MCM’s 2022, 2023 and 2024 impact reports, celebrating MCM’s sustainability progress and playing a key role in driving all stages of the report development.
- We guided report direction through an initial double materiality assessment and gap analysis, aligning with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (EU-CSRD) regulatory requirements
- We identified supply chain risks and hotspots and improved data quality, enabling MCM to collect Tier 2 supplier data for the first time in 2023
- We worked with MCM to develop an effective approach to tell the story of their sustainability journey and innovations
- We crafted the report to reflect MCM’s unique brand narrative, ensuring appeal to luxury fashion audiences through imaginative and engaging graphic design
How did we deliver value?
By working with Watts Sustainability to deliver its impact reporting, MCM was able to:
- Strengthen credibility through independent verification of sustainability data and methodology, focusing on the issues identified as pertinent by internal and external stakeholders by the double materiality assessment.
- Ensure compliance of its impact reporting with international best-practice ESG reporting frameworks as well as meeting regulatory requirements
- Enhance brand storytelling, reinforcing authenticity and premium positioning, by supporting and celebrating supplier engagement and operational improvements across the value chain.
What our clients say?

This report is not just about celebrating achievements – it is about holding ourselves accountable.
