IEMA’s Evolution into ISEP: An Update for Watts Sustainability Clients and Course Participants
IEMA, the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, is evolving into ISEP, The Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals.
For over 25 years, ISEP (formerly IEMA) has been the global membership body for anyone working in or around sustainability and the environment. However, as the sustainability profession has grown and evolved, so has ISEP. This change aims to better reflect the evolving nature of the global membership body, as a hugely influential part of the worldwide movement for sustainable change.
This rebrand features a refreshed logo and a modernised visual identity that better reflects their broader focus on sustainability skills and supporting professionals across the green economy.
Watts Sustainability is proud to be an ISEP-certified training provider, specialising in both classic and bespoke ISEP-certified training courses.
When did the rebrand take place?
The official ISEP rebrand launched on 17 July 2025.
Will this affect my post-nomials?
Yes! From 17 July 2025 onwards, members will transition to new post-nominals aligned with the ISEP brand:
AIEMA → AISEP (Associate)
PIEMA → PISEP (Practitioner)
MIEMA → MISEP (Full Member)
FIEMA → FISEP (Fellow)
Are the IEMA training courses changing?
Yes, but only in name. Course titles are being revised to align with the new ISEP branding, but the course content will stay unchanged.
For example:
IEMA Foundation Course in Environmental Management (AIEMA) → ISEP Foundation Course in Environmental Management (AISEP)
IEMA Pathways to Net Zero → ISEP Pathways to Net Zero
Can I still use my existing IEMA certificate?
Yes. All existing certificates issued under the IEMA name will remain valid and recognised.
At Watts Sustainability, we’re proud to partner with ISEP to deliver training that helps professionals make a positive impact on the environment and business practices.
We are specialised in developing tailored courses to support our clients’ sustainability plans wherever they are in their sustainability journey.
We can also deliver fully bespoke ISEP-certified training courses, to ensure that the sector-specific sustainability challenges that your organisation faces can be directly addressed.
Together, we’re building a more sustainable future.
