Watts Sustainability and Ocean Outdoor Highly Commended at BusinessGreen Awards 2026
We are delighted to share that Watts Sustainability and Ocean Outdoor were Highly Commended in the Net Zero Strategy of the Year category at the UK Green Business Awards 2026, hosted by BusinessGreen. The winners were announced at the awards ceremony in June 2026, as part of London Climate Action Week.
The category was closely contested, with ten finalists in total: Aviva, Capgemini UK, Coventry Building Society Group, DWF, Haleon, James Hutton Institute, KPMG and Rolls-Royce Holdings, Ocean Outdoor and Watts Sustainability, Ørsted, and Osprey Charging Network. Haleon took the overall award for its Net Zero 2040 Strategy, and just two entries were Highly Commended: Aviva, and our joint entry with Ocean Outdoor.
Our entry recognised the Net Zero by 2040 Strategy developed jointly by Ocean Outdoor and Watts Sustainability, which quantified the potential carbon saving of over 25 initiatives. It lays out a clear pathway for Ocean Outdoor to achieve its ambitious decarbonisation targets, which were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2025. Already on its way to achieving these goals, Ocean Outdoor has reduced its market-based Scope 2 emissions by over 80% against its 2022 baseline, by moving to 100% renewable electricity across its UK and Netherlands operations.
At Watts Sustainability, we help organisations develop credible, evidence-based net zero strategies, from initial carbon footprinting and target-setting through to detailed decarbonisation planning and SBTi validation. Being Highly Commended among such strong competition is a welcome recognition of that work, and of the partnership with Ocean Outdoor that made it possible.
If your organisation is looking to put its climate commitments on a more rigorous footing, we’d love to have a conversation.
